How I am Staying Sane While Staying Home
Here we are in week two of the COVID-19 lockdown and am still in utter disbelief that this is a reality. Every time I pass my calendar hanging in the hallway to the kitchen I tell myself not to look. The idea that this might continue beyond the middle of April is pretty scary and for someone who has to be constantly going, going, going….. this is not doing wonders for my mental state (or my children’s educational needs). Homeschooling is not my strong suit.
On the other hand, when I do stop to take a breath and live in the here and now, I can’t help but think what an unusual time in life where everyone in the world has to reset. Everyone in the world has to find new ways to work, communicate, interact with family and survive in order to make it through to the other side. It is almost as inspiring and motivating as it is unsettling.
With all of that said, I am finding ways to keep my mind active, my kids happy and my shopping habits healthy. Here are a few of my favorite things….
FAVORITE SHOPPING SITES
I don’t know about you but nothing cures my stress better than a little retail therapy. Here are some of my favorite websites I have been frequenting on the daily:
Shopbop - this is my first stop web shop with my morning coffee. I start by browsing New Arrivals and create a wishlist for Spring for everything from denim, shoes, blazers and accessories.
Nordstrom - it didn’t hurt that they launched a site wide 25% off sale last week. Check out some of pieces I picked up.
Zara - about 90% of my closet currently… amazing jackets, shoes and the best for inexpensive trendy pieces. You will find favorites posted here weekly!
Sephora - since in-home beauty is all the rage, I have taken this time to stock up on some amazing new skincare brands to try.
FAVORITE FOOD BLOGGERS
I absolutely LOVE to cook and so does my teenage son (he’s incredible by the way). Here are some of my go-to food accounts for easy and healthy recipes:
The Defined Dish - the best for Whole30 dinner and lunch inspiration.
Rachel Mansfield - bake any of her desserts IMMEDIATELY and often!
Gathered Nutrition - Mia is AMAZING and her recipes are to die for AND fun fact… she used to babysit my boys!
FAVORITE AT HOME WORKOUTS
Melissa Wood Health - ordinarily I crave cardio and high impact but I can honestly say I am addicted to her!
Core Power Yoga - thank goodness they are offering virtual classes….game changer!
Wishing you all good health, sanity and sanitizer during this crazy time.
